Roy Suker

April 2, 1917 — November 29, 2010

Roy William Suker was born on April 2, 1917 in Lakefield, MN, the son of Ben Mayme (Wolf) Suker. Roy married Viola Sandhoefner on July 22, 1942 in New Ulm, MN. Roy lived in Sleepy Eye his entire life, except for three years when he served in Italy and North Africa during World War ll. He loved to cook, fish, play cards and travel. Roy was affectionately called the old goat on construction sites, where he would walk on steel beams high in the air with as much confidence as strolling down the sidewalk. He traveled to many European countries and Caribbean islands, but his favorite vacation was Ireland where he and Viola participated in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Galloway. Roy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Viola of Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan, children, Doug (Audrey) Suker of Edina, Diane (Paul Bowlby) Suker of Indianapolis, IN, Mike Suker of Sleepy Eye, three grandchildren, Joseph, Jessica Ben Suker, great-granddaughter, Emma Suker, brother, Robert Sucker of Sleepy Eye and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lucille, Pearl Dorothy and infant son.
