Roy John Peterson

Roy John Peterson, 87, of Windom and formerly of Dundee, MN, died June 29, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom, MN

A private family burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James, MN at a later date. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.

Roy was born August 10, 1935, to Roy and Esther (Voss) Peterson in New Ulm, MN. He graduated from Hanska High School in 1954. Following high school, he served in the in the US Navy for four years. On March 2, 1963, Roy married Lucille Jensen at Albion Lutheran Church. Together, they raised three children, Paulette, Shauna, and Stephen.

Roy worked for the DNR for 50 years, retiring in 2002. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, was a firearm enthusiast, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Roy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucy; children, Paulette (Trevor) Anderson of Jackson and Stephen Jensen of River Fall, WI; grandchildren, Jacob Peterson and Shaun Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shauna; sisters, Phyllis and Dolores; and brother, Leonard.
