Roy Newman

Roy Newman, age 86, of St. James, died on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Roy W. Newman, born to Raymond Earl Newman and Clella Payne Newman in Truman, MN on September 14, 1924. He lived in Truman, Winnebago and then moved to St. James when he married Evelyn Willemssen in 1945. They had three children. Connie Pierson, Cynthia O'Brien and Bradley Newman. Roy and his father-in-law Ben Willemssen owned and operated a auto dealership in St. James. After retiring Roy and Evelyn enjoyed farming, spending time at their lake home and traveling with friends. They spent winters in Mesa, Arizona. Roy is survived by his wife Evelyn and three children. Connie (Wayne) Pierson, Cynthia O'Brien and Bradley (Colleen) Newman. Grandchildren-Scott (Lisa) Pierson, Eric Pierson, Jason Pierson, Sean (Kari) O'Brien, Dan O'Brien, Christina Newman and Jacob Newman. Great Grandchildren-Nicholas Pierson, Brianna Pierson, Dillon O'Brien, Alec O'Brien and Colin O'Brien. Roy is also survived by a brother, Gerald (Arlene) Newman and special friend and companion Burnette Bowen along with numerous extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
