Rosella Quiring, age 88, of Grogan died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Rose was born in Cottonwood County on December 31, 1921 to George and Katherine (Enns) Willems. In August of 1936, she was baptized and confirmed at the Mennonite Church in Delft, MN. She received her education in Delft and graduated from the Bingham Lake High School. Rosie came to St. James in 1943, where she worked for three years with Drs. Bratrude and Hansen. Rosie was united in marriage to John D. Quiring on April 1, 1944. The matrimony took place in Delft, when Johnny came home on furlough from Kodiak, Alaska. In 1960, after spending time raising her three daughters, Rose returned to work at Ralph's Super Valu. She spent five years there, in the Produce Dept., working alongside her husband. From 1965 to 1988 she was employed at Tony Downs Foods. The greatest joy for Rosie, however, was working for the Watonwan County Library during her retirement years, from 1988 to 1995. Rose was a true lady, greatly beloved by many, and she adored this community. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was extremely active in the United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the choir (a beautiful alto), handbells, and various groups. She truly enjoyed music, traveling, reading, and spending time with her small family. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Dorothy (Dick) Burns of Long Island, NY and Betty (Douglas) Roiger of New Ulm; granddaughters Kimberly (Donevan) Saxon of St. James and Jennifer (Jeff) Groebner of Eagan; great grandsons Ben Brackelsberg and Jacob Salo, Josh and Jacob Groebner; brother Bud (Dort) Willems of New London, sister Pinky (Gene) Buckley of North Mankato, sister-in-law Sara Simenson of St. James, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnny, her daughter Carol Ann, brother Bennie, sister Linda, and son-in-law Dennis.
