Rosella Regehr, the daughter of David J. and Margaretha (Penner) Regehr, was born on July 5, 1919, near Mountain Lake, MN. She received her education in country schools near Mountain Lake and Butterfield, MN. Rosella was baptized upon confession of her faith at Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. On September 9, 1942, Rosella was united in marriage to Ervin Neufeld at Bethel Mennonite Church. They lived in Iowa and New Jersey while Ervin was in CPS, and then they returned to Mountain Lake. She worked at Tony Downs in St. James, MN and Butterfield Produce in Butterfield, and then in her retirement she worked for 12 years as housekeeper at the Eventide Nursing Home in Mountain Lake. Rosella will be remembered as a caring and giving person: She worked outside the home to help provide her children with the important things she was not able to have as a child; She would return home from a full day of work and prepare food for a family in need, prepare supper for her family and take care of household chores; She cared for both her parents when their health failed and they needed help; and she helped care for her sister following a stroke. She loved to read and used both the public and church libraries extensively, and a special treat to her children was to be able to go to the library for books after completing their chores on Saturdays. Rosella enjoyed traveling with Ervin, but she always looked forward to returning to her home in Mountain Lake. Rosella died on Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at the Lakes Region Health Care Center in Spirit Lake, IA. Rosella is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ervin Neufeld of Mountain Lake; 6 children, Doris (Daryl) Alwine of Johnston, PA, Jane (Ken) Daniels of Blaine, MN; Richard (Barb) Neufeld of Eagan, MN, Jerry (Susan) Neufeld of Mountain Lake, Les (Liz) Neufeld of Lakeville, MN, and Vonnie (Jim) Robischon of Sauke Center, MN; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Olga) Regehr of Robbinsdale, MN; special friend, Martha Pabst of Mountain Lake; 2 sisters-in-law, Mabel Regehr of Sleepy Eye, MN and Sarah Regehr of Windom, MN; many other relatives and friends.
