Rosella Margaret Dick was born September 11, 1916 in a farm house near Eagle Lake to Isaac and Katharina (Balzer) Dick. In her early years she lived with her family on a farm 3 miles west of Mountain Lake. In 1936, Rosella graduated from Mountain Lake High School. She then enrolled in Bible Schule (School) for one year during which she was involved in various music groups. After this was complete, she enrolled in DVBS Institute and taught VBS in Northern California for some time. One job was cooking and cleaning for child movie star Jackie Morgan. In 1944, Rosella decided to enroll in the Practical Nursing Program in Minneapolis but this was not to her liking and she transferred to Evanston, Illinois where they let her do more patient care. Between the years 1945-1947, Rosella was a student at Tabor College. Much to her delight, she was an excellent student and got much better grades than high school. She was a life-long member of Community Bible Church. On September 11, 1952, Rosella and Dietrich L. Dick were married. Two children were born, Darrell Lee and Sandra Sue. Almost 27 years passed and Dietrich passed away in September of 1979. But it didn't take long for the sparkle to come back when she met and married David Jansen on January 2, 1982. They had 23 years together, traveling and enjoying each other before Papa passed away on February 26, 2004. On January 11, 1999, Rosella suffered her first stroke and they moved into the Evantide home for the first time. Then they moved to an apartment above Parkside Depot for eight months. After her second stroke, they moved back to the Evantide home. Then they were back and forth between the Evantide Home and Good Samaritan Village as Rosella's health declined over the next few years due to numerous strokes and she went home to heaven on January 31, 2011. She is survived by her children: Darrell (Joyce) Dick of Mountain Lake, MN, and Sandra (Kent) Schmidt of Marion, SD; 3 grandchildren: Elisabeth (Darius) Teichroew of Crystal, MN, Lorrilee Dick of Mountain Lake, MN, and Ryan Schmidt of Marion, SD; 3 great grandchildren: Amara, Lewis, and Lillian Teichroew; 2 step-children: Arlin (Ruth) Jansen, Fort Wayne, IN, and Lorna Jansen, Crystal Lake, IL, and 3 step-grandchildren: Katharine, David, and Natalie. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands, 3 brothers: Marvin, Roland, Leonard, and nephew Paul Dick.
