There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. CCW Rosary is Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Rosella was born on Sept 17th, 1925, in Stately Township, Brown County, Minnesota to Joseph and Anna (Tauer) Groebner. She married Donald Hillesheim on February 19th, 1946, at St Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. Rosella attended country school in Stately Township and attended St Raphael's School in Springfield for one year. Rosella worked on her parent's farm and helped her older siblings before marriage. After marriage Rosella and her husband farmed for one year in Stark Township near Sleepy Eye before purchasing a farm in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County where they lived for 35 years before retiring to Springfield in 1981. Rosella moved to St John's Lutheran Home in 1996 after suffering a stroke. Rosella especially enjoyed her family and was active at St Raphael's Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening, knitting, crocheting and card playing. Rosella Frances Hillesheim, age 82, died on November 22nd, 2007, at St John's Lutheran Home in Springfield. Surviving Rosella are her children, Dianne (Greg) Merkel of Fairfax, Bernell (Kathy M.) of Sanborn, Rosanne (Gary) Anderson of Maynard, Marliss (Bryan) Meier of New Ulm, Cletus (Kathy) of Sanborn, Bennett (Debra) of Bird Island, and Bernard of Sanborn. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Gary (Jeanette) Merkel of Fairfax, Angela (Jon) Knutzen of Savage, Stacia (Jason) Kraus of Maplewood, Chris (Christine) Hillesheim of Worthington, Brian Hillesheim of Lamberton, Jamie (Bjarte) Haram of Lynd, Nathan (Megan) Meier of New Ulm, Darcy Meier of Bemidji, Chase Hillesheim of Chandler, Arizona; Matt Hillesheim of Red Wing; Kristina Hillesheim of Sanborn and Corey Hillesheim of St. Paul; Jason Hillesheim of Minneapolis; and Eric Hillesheim of Bird Island. Surviving great grandchildren are; Michael, Shawn, Derik, Jennifer and Kenneth Hillesheim of Worthington; Lillian, Melanie, Julia and Isabelle Merkel of Fairfax; and Halle Meier of New Ulm. Surviving sister-in-laws are Rosella Groebner of Springfield, Beatrice Haala of Comfrey, Donna Mae (Don) Schneider of Stoughton, Wisconsin and Genevive Hillesheim of Sleepy Eye. Rosella was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 1998; her parents, infant grandchildren, Jennifer Hillesheim and Matthew Meier; sisters and brother in laws, Anna (Charles) Matter, Florence (Walter) Hillesheim, Mary Ann (Alex) Kiel and brothers and sister in laws, Leo (Irene), Edward (Vernonica), George (Irene) and Gerhardt Groebner; and brother's in law, Alfred Hillesheim and Leonard Haala.
