Rose Mathiowetz

There will be a parish prayer service at 5:30pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Rose was born on April 8, 1910 in Burnstown Township, MN, the daughter of John Theresa (Hoffmann) Nachreiner. She grew up and attended country school in Burnstown Township and attended St. Raphael's School in Springfield. She married Wendelin F. Mathiowetz on June 23, 1931 at St. Raphael's Church in Springfield. They started Mathiowetz Body Shop and Webb Oil Co. in Sleepy Eye where she remained as the bookkeeper until the age of 95 when she retired. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, the Lady Foresters and Christian Mothers. She was a resident of Ross Park Apts for 32 years and enjoyed the company and fellowship of the staff and residents. Rose said: Life is like a puzzle. You put it together one day at a time. She is survived by sons, Robert W. (Irene) of Sleepy Eye and Charles L. (Iris) of Red Wing, seven grandchildren, Lowell L., Douglas, Connie, Marvin, Robert A. Butch, Keith, Charlene Dudley, eleven great-grandchildren, sisters, Lydia Hillesheim and Leona Sellner, both of Sleepy Eye and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wendelin, brothers, Leo, Hugo, Roman, Walter and sisters, Ottilea Haala and Helen Mathiowetz.
