Rosa Pietig

January 4, 1913 — June 28, 2005

Rosa Bertha Pietig was born on January 4, 1913 in Penora, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Mathilda (Prihoda) Wolf. She attended country school in Brookville Township, St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye and later the U of M Agriculture School. Rosa married Ambrose Pietig on April 2, 1940 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. After their marriage they farmed for two years near Morgan and then farmed in Prairieville Township until retiring and moving to Sleepy Eye in 1967. She worked at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center as a nurse's aid for several years. Rosa enjoyed her family and friends, fishing, card playing and cooking. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She was also active in 4-H and as a 4-H Leader. Survivors include her children, David of Sleepy Eye, Perry (Lisa) of Sleepy Eye, DeeAnn Gieseke of St. James, Pattie (Wayne) Pelzel of Sleepy Eye, son-in-law, Burt Quast of Janesville, 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Agnus Wolf of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ambrose, daughter, Colleen Quast, an infant grandson, brothers, Ed Wolf, Ernest Wolf, Henry Wolf, sisters, Anna Vogel, Emma Jensen and Marie Schotzko.
