Ronald Richard 'Dick' Wellman

Ronald Richard "Dick" Wellman was born April 7, 1938, on the family farm in Nelson Township near St. James, MN, the son of Henry and Ida (Elsing) Wellman. Dick attended country school through the 9th grade when he quit to take over the family farm with his brother. On August 18, 1957, he was united in marriage to Delores Maloney in St. James. The couple made their home on the family farm before moving to their own farm south of town, later to their current farm in Nelson Township in 1966, where they raised their 3 sons. Dick raised dairy cattle and later beef cattle, hogs and crops. In 1999, he went to work for Watonwan Farm Service where he hauled fertilizer and repaired equipment, he retired in 2013. Dick enjoyed baling hay, playing pool and fishing. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids attending their school activities and going to County Fairs with them. Ronald "Dick" Wellman died on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Dick is survived by his wife Delores Wellman of St. James, sons Rick (Chris) Wellman of St. James, Randy (Kathy) Wellman of Hanska, Roger (Kateri) Wellman of Fairmont, grandchildren Nicole (Steve) VanWyk, Kayla (Jamie) McGuire, Randi Wellman & Ryan Mosser, Dusty Wellman & Ashley Eckstrom, Ashley (Jeremy) Brekken, Lacy Wellman & Matt Gens, Jake (Tanya) Wellman, Clare (Scott) Mosloski, Ethan Wellman and special friend April Boehne, 14 great-grandchildren and many other nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Carolyn Wellman of Thief River Falls, brothers/sisters-in-law Betty (Tyler) Williams of Wilmar, Ruth Greier of Lewisville, Mary Maloney of Lewisville, Delilah Maloney of Truman, and Sharon Maloney of Richland Center, WI.
