Ronald G. Remus, age 84, of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota died on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Vista Prairie Care Center in New Ulm. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Ronald Gene Remus was born June 25, 1941, at Sleepy Eye to Roland and Dolores (Bowman) Remus. He attended rural school and Sleepy Eye Public High School graduating in 1959, he then attended the University of Minnesota, St. Paul majoring in agriculture.

He joined the family farm operation Roland Remus and Sons with his father and brother Lynn raising registered Yorkshire pigs and registered Jersey cattle which they exhibited annually at the Minnesota State Fair and participated in many breed sales. He also raised sheep. He was involved in and continued the farming operation raising corn, soybeans, peas and sweet corn until his retirement. His efforts in conservation earned him The Farmer conservation farmer award for the Brown Country Soil & Water Conservation District in 1969 and the 10-year conservation award in 1979.

In addition to his love of agriculture, Ronald enjoyed attending the Brown County and Minnesota State Fairs, and watching his nephew & niece show livestock. He also enjoyed hunting for Morel mushrooms every spring and gardening where he became quite good at canning asparagus. He was a sports fan of the Minnesota Gophers, Twins and Vikings. He became an accomplished polka dancer and attended dances and polka festivals across the state for many years.

Ronald is survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Remus, Sleepy Eye, MN; nephew, Dave (Wendy) Remus, Sleepy Eye, MN; niece, Sandy (Rick) Osterday, Java, SD; great-nephews, Justin (Ashley) Remus, New Ulm, MN, Blane (Liz) Osterday, Java, SD, Kyle (Alyssa) Remus, Sleepy Eye, MN and Clay (Erin) Osterday, Java, SD; great great-nephews, Gavin Remus, Gibson Osterday and Brooks Osterday; great great-nieces, Breck Remus, Vivian Osterday and Savannah Osterday; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts and brother Lynn.
