Ronald Johnson

Ronald Johnson was born July 4, 1912 in Springfield, MN to Peter and Minnie (Anderson) Johnson. He attended country school #27 in Sundown Township. On September 10, 1932 he married Gladys Meyer at Sundown Lutheran Church in Sundown Township, Redwood Co. The couple farmed in Charleston Township and Sundown Township before moving into Sanborn in 1952 and to Redwood Falls in 1986. He was a lifelong member of Sundown Lutheran Church where he sang in the church choir and served on church boards. He also served on the Civil Defense. Ron enjoyed playing banjo in a band and dancing. Ronald Johnson died Friday, December 26, 2008 at the Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls, MN. He is survived by 5 children - Lois Mariner of Redwood Falls, MN, Bernard (Bud) and Marty Johnson of Hardwick, MN, Dave and Betty Johnson of Sanborn, MN, Gary and Judy Johnson of Winnebago, MN and Sharon Firle of St. Paul, MN; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and a sister - Irene Skow of Chisago City. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife in December of 2003, son-in-law - John Mariner; brother - Arnie and sister - Mabel Liebl.
