Ronald Gent

Ronald Duane Gent was born on September 27, 1946, in Sleepy Eye, MN, the son of Roderic and Marian (Pelzel) Gent. Ron graduated from St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye in 1964 where he enjoyed many years on the basketball court. Ron enlisted in the Navy in 1964 and served for 4 years. Ron married Diane Engholm on December 4, 1971, at Grace Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, MN. Ron worked road construction and at Agrico Chemical Company. He enjoyed refereeing local games for 15 years before retiring from that position. Ron went into the insurance business in 1977 under American Family Insurance for nine years before becoming an independent agent. Ron retired in December of 2013 after 36 years of selling insurance. Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing with his friends and spending time with his dogs throughout the years. He is survived by his wife, Diane Gent, brother, Maurice (Carol) Gent, brothers-in-law, Howard (Betty) Engholm and Steven Engholm, nieces and nephews, Tim, Brian (godchild), Crystal, Stacy, Michelle (godchild) and step father, Frank Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents Roderic and Marian Gent and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Orville and Doris Engholm.
