Ronald Boomgarden

Ronald Claus Boomgarden, age 76, of Madelia, MN died on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Ronald was born in Rock Rapids, IA on October 9, 1938. At the age of two, he moved with his parents to Madelia where he grew up on a farm east of town and graduated from Madelia high school. Ronald met his wife Marilyn in Lake Crystal, MN and was united in marriage at Lake Crystal Zion Lutheran Church on September 12, 1959. They resided in Madelia and had four children together. Ronald was an employee of Green Giant in St. James as a production supervisor and worked for many years as a welder with Industrial Fabrication Systems (IFS). He enjoyed working with his brother and nephews at IFS until his retirement in 2004. Ronald spent much of his free time in the outdoors, fishing and duck hunting but also was a gifted artist who created beautiful paintings of nature scenes. He had many friends, whom he loved and often went for coffee and visited with them. He was a loving father and grandfather, whose kindness and caring will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Kopischke) Boomgarden; daughters, Julie (Mark) Hoeft, Deb Lawrence, Ronalyn (Carl) Urban, Tim (Shawna) Boomgarden; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Betty Boomgarden. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Klaas and Alma Boomgarden, and brother, Raymond Boomgarden.
