Roland Ericksen

Roland James Butch Ericksen was born March 12, 1927 in Evan, MN, the son of Jens and Louise (Guhlke) Ericksen. He attended schools in Evan and Sleepy Eye before moving to Comfrey with his family and later Butch joined the U.S. Navy. On February 21, 1949 he married Jeannette LaVoris Quarnstrom. He worked at his parents Coast-to-Coast Store, Quarnstrom Son International Harvester and drove bus for the Comfrey Public School. In 1959 they moved to Butterfield where he drove truck for ButterfieldFoods and worked for Ekstedt Implement, Echo Ag Service, Hodgeman Construction and Cunningham Implement. He retired in 1989. Butch took great pride in being a Veteran and in his 59 continuous years as a member of the American Legion. All of his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dancing. The last several years he looked forward to helping Wally and Wayne Jurgens with their field work. Butch died on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at the V.A. Medical Hospital in Minneapolis, MN after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife - Jeannette Ericksen of Comfrey; children - Steve and wife Carol Ericksen of St. James, MN, Dana and wife Sheryl Ericksen of St. James, MN, Dawn and husband Stephan Hanson of Eagan, MN and Darla and husband Dan Judes of Sheridan, WY; 7 grandchildren - Shawn, Tiffani, Danelle, Valerie, Tony, Crystal, and Stacey; 3 great grandchildren - Austin, Anthony, and Joey; 3 siblings - Gloria (Wall) Teuful of Storden, MN, Francis Ike Ericksen of Comfrey, and Marion Pietz of Richland,WA; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
