Roger Vollmer

April 14, 1920 — January 3, 2008

Roger E. Vollmer was born on April 14, 1920 on the Sleepy Eye family farm to Theodore and Erma (Dittbenner) Vollmer. He was united in marriage to Marie Frasch on October 30, 1946 in New Ulm, MN. Roger along with his wife, Marie, were life long farmers in Stark Township until retiring and moving to Mankato in 1998. Roger's pride was being a grain farmer and above all raising beef cattle. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors. Roger was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and later at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Mankato. Roger E. Vollmer, 87, of Mankato, formerly of Sleepy Eye, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Marie Vollmer of Mankato, son, Michael (Patrica) of Redwood Falls, daughter, Cleo (Roger) Matzke of Good Thunder, son, Mark of Mankato, grandson, Marcus (Emily) Matzke of Carolina Beach, NC, and granddaughter, Sarah and fiance Nicholas Goelz of Mankato. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and grandson, Patrick Vollmer. Blessed be his memory. The family would prefer memorials in lieu of flowers.
