Roger Peterson

Roger Filbert Peterson was born August 25, 1938 at the home farmplace near Comfrey, MN to Filbert and Minnie (Brand) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Comfrey and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1956. Roger served with the National Guard for 3 years and worked as a Machinist for several companies for over 40 years. He married Nellie Lyons-Stark on August 25, 1974 in Comfrey. Roger was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey and enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and softball, the Vikings, and especially enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roger is survived by stepchildren- Dale and wife Brenda Henze of Backus, Delbert and wife Linda Henze of Mapleton, Jean and husband Gary Rathman of Comfrey, and Joanne Howk and Lenny Hauser of New Ulm; 10 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; brother LeRoy Peterson and wife Marty Feil of Comfrey; brother-in-law Earl Lyons; step-sister Margie Francis; step-sister-in-law Louise Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie on March 30, 2013; parents; step-grandson Craig Henze; sister Marcella Peterson; half-sister Doreen Peterson; step-mothers- Hilma Sandberg Peterson and Dorothy Wing Peterson; step-brothers- Clifford Peterson, and Charles and wife Shirley Peterson; and step-brother-in-law A.W.
