Bob Sandmeyer, age 89, of Saint James, Minnesota died on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at his home.

Visitation will be from 3-5:30PM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, where a Memorial Service will be held at 5:30PM. Interment will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, St James.

Robert “Bob” Wendell Sandmeyer was born on August 25, 1933 in St. James, Minnesota, to parents, George and Elvina (Chalin) Sandmeyer. He was one of 9 children. He graduated from St. James High School and spent his life as a carpenter, building beautiful homes throughout the St James area. On September 16, 1954, Bob married Alice Marie Riggle, and they were blessed with 5 children. He had a love for his family and enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was awarded one of only two lifetime memberships of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Bob is survived by his children, Barb Reed of Madelia; Cathy (Jim) Newville of Butte, MT, Diane "Sam" (Mark) Forsyth of Rapid City, SD and Brenda (Randy) Black of Amboy; many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Clayton "Pete" (Darlene) Sandmeyer of Mankato; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Alice; son Steven "Freighter"; son-in-law, Willard Reed; brothers, Chuck, Jim, Keith and Richard; sister, Ruth; infant sister, Shirley and infant brother George.
