Robert Alvin Runck

Robert A. Runck, age 87, of Springfield, died on November 3, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Nursing Home. 

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, Minnesota and will continue on Monday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Springfield. Funeral Service will be held at the United Methodist Church on Monday, November 09, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery. Robert Alvin Runck was born on August 22, 1939, to Alvin and Alpha (Rongstad) Runck in Springfield. On February 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Glenda Rudenick at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet, MN. They were blessed with four children and raised them on their family farm. Robert enjoyed farming with his wife Glenda and son Bob. When they had the crops in and machinery put away for the winter, they would head to Harlingen, Texas for 5 months where they had friends from all over the United States and Canada. Robert enjoyed his morning coffee group with his Canada friends when they were down south and at Fritz's in Springfield. From 1958 to 1965, Robert served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Robert served as a director for the Springfield Farmer's Elevator for 12 years and Harvest Land Cooperative for 26 years where he served in various roles including president for 18 years. He also served as clerk of North Star Township for many years and was a member of the Springfield American Legion. Robert and Glenda were active members of the Springfield United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years - Glenda Runck, 4 children - Pam (Rick) Baumann, Shelley (Bryan) Trebesch, Bob Runck, Kim (Ken) Rahne, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, sister - Mary Jansky, many other family members. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Joan and Ken Schultz, brother-in-law Joe Jansky, parents-in-law Lenard and Mildred Rudenick and mother-in-law Effie Rudenick.
