He was the oldest of two children and graduated from Butterfield High School in 1954. He went on to serve in the US Army in the Special Intelligence and Airborne divisions from 1955-1958. He returned home and met the love of his life, Arlene Sandmeyer and the two were married November 29, 1958. Together they raised their family of 5 children. Robert worked at Scherr-Tumico for 24 years and the city of St. James for 15 1/2 years. With his own hands, Robert built the house that they were proud to call home, on 8th Ave N. When asked what Robert's 3 favorite hobbies were, they came to mind quickly... Fishing, Fishing and Fishing. He also loved to participate in bowling, horseshoes, boating and swimming. Building hydroplane boats and playing bingo are a few more. Special moments with the grandkids and great-grandkids were made teaching them how to fish. Great memories will be cherished of the trips to South Dakota and the yearly trips to the cabins up North.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arlene Roeglin; children, Deb (Brad) Peterson, Denise (Jeff) Pischke, Deanna Mueller, and Dennis (Crissy) Roeglin; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Don) Benzel of St. James; best friend and fishing buddy, Joe Nett; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his son, Dean Roeglin and numerous extended family.
