Robert Landkammer

There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Robert Francis Landkammer was born February 28, 1933, in Springfield, MN, the son of Frank and Theresa (Matter) Landkammer. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1950, and was inducted into the U.S. Army in April of 1955. Following his honorable discharge in February of 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Helen Schweiss on November 9, 1957, in Fairfax, MN. The couple farmed in Sundown Township and enjoyed their winters in Arizona. Bob was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, and St. Boniface Society. He was also a member of John Watson American Legion Post #257, charter member and Past President of Redwood County NFO, member of the Rural Life Association, and Farmer's Union. Bob enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, golfing, and playing trumpet in various bands and the U.S. Army band. Bob was a leader in his church and a model of charity, generosity, kindness, family, and community. He will be remembered for his support of many causes, especially farm issues. Robert Francis Landkammer died Monday, August 13, 2007, at the Springfield Medical Center-Hospital at the age of 74 years. He battled cancer since this May. Suvivors include wife- Helen of Springfield; children- Julie and husband Roger Prechel of Springfield, Jean and husband Brian Hickey of Dunkirk, MD, Lisa and husband Mark Hoffman of Eden Prairie, Kari and husband Jeff Smith of New Prague, Jana and husband Don Dengel of Eden Prairie, Gerard Landkammer and fiancee' Lisa Bloomgren of Springfield, Joel and wife Julie Landkammer of Big Lake, and Andrew Landkammer of St. Louis Park; 15 grandchildren; sister- Sister Lorraine Landkammer, OSF of Rochester; and sisters-in-law- Bernice Baumann of St. Paul, and Bea Schweiss of Fairfax. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law- Helen and Nic Heiderscheidt, and brother and sister-in-law- Wilfred and Emilie Landkammer. Memorials preferred to St. Raphael's Catholic School Teacher Retention Fund.
