Robert Michael Krambeer was born on February 28, 1952, in Sleepy Eye to Terry and Ordell Krambeer. He was welcomed home by his eight-year-old twin brothers Tom and John (Jack). He spent his days playing with the neighborhood gang, spoiling both his dog Bowzer and his pet gopher Gomer, swimming in the lake, biking around town, and visiting his extended family. Although his parents named him Robert, he soon came into several nicknames. He was Bobby to his family, Bob to some of his friends and co-workers, and "Kranny" to many others.
He attended St. Mary's School from first grade all the way through high school. In school Bob helped out on the football team and participated in musicals. After graduating in 1970, Bob went to work at Kraft Foods in New Ulm and worked at Kraft until his retirement in 2014. Outside of the two years that he spent in the army Bob lived in Sleepy Eye his whole life.
Bob was actively involved in the life of St. Mary's Church. He joined the KCs and helped out with their many fund-raising events. He sang in the "big choir" on Sundays and often cantored as well. In 1984 he joined the newly formed Adult Contemporary Group which led the singing at Saturday evening masses once a month. This is where he met Mary DePyper, another member of the group.
The two married on September 25, 1987. About a year later on August 16, 1988, Bob and Mary welcomed their first son Michael Robert into the world. Then on April 19, 1992, a second son, Matthew Alan, joined the family. Finally, on October 18,1994, Joseph William completed the trio of sons.
Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also stayed very active and loved watching and participating in many different sports. As a young adult he would often golf, play tennis and softball, swim, run, and bike. Bob liked being outside to take care of the yard and gardens, and in the fall he loved to get out and go "leafing." He also enjoyed traveling, taking trips all across the country first with friends and later with Mary and the boys. In 2019 he, Mary, and Joey were able to travel to Japan to see Matt and tour the country.
Mary and Bob had big plans to do a lot more traveling once she retired, but before they could put those plans into action he was diagnosed with cancer. For more than three years he bravely battled the disease but after "running the good race" and giving it his all, the cancer finally won.
Bob died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He is survived by his wife Mary; sons Michael (Sleepy Eye), Matthew (Yokohama, Japan), and Joseph (Inver Grove Heights); brother Jack Krambeer (Richfield); sister-in-law Phyllis McCargar (Northfield); brothers-in-law Robert DePyper (St. Peters, MO), Jerry DePyper (Nicaragua), and John DePyper (Edina) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Terry and Ordell Krambeer; brother Tom Krambeer; mother-in-law Margaret DePyper; father-in-law Julius DePyper; sisters-in-law Jean Short and Millie DePyper; and brothers-in-law Jim DePyper and Ray Rauchman.
