Robert James Johnson

Robert James Johnson was born on September 29, 1929 to Olaf and Alice (Beilke) Johnson in Sleepy Eye, MN. Robert was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan where he was a lifelong member. He attended country school and then graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1947. Robert served in the Army from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean War. Robert farmed on the family century farm and also did custom crop spraying. He enjoyed reading, fishing, drives in the country, and later in life doing puzzles. Robert was a member of the American Legion in Sleepy Eye. He died on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Fairfax Community Assisted Living in Fairfax, MN at the age of 87. Robert is survived by his brother Darwin (Carol) Johnson of Springfield; sister Judy (Mike) Sandmann of Franklin; and nieces and nephews - Philip, Kahla, Karen, Diane, Teresa, and Brent. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David.
