Bob Frericks was born May 6, 1928, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of Frank and Bernadette (Holdgrafer) Frericks. The family moved to Wabasso, Minnesota. On September 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Delores Ann Plaetz. Bob worked 10 years for the Wabasso elevator then left to farm. In 1969, Bob and Deloris moved into Wanda and owned and operated the Wanda Food Market, Frericks Oil and Snapper Dealership. He also helped start the Wanda girls softball team and mowing bee. He was also instrumental in establishing a medical clinic in Lamberton, serving on the board for many years. He retired in 1983 and bought a cabin on Mill Lake, where he enjoyed fishing, bird watching and spending time with family. Bob loved baseball and was an avid Twins and Gopher basketball fan. Bob fought in the Korean War and belonged to the VFW. He was also a member of the American Legion and Wanda Fire Department. Robert William Frericks, 78, of Wanda, MN died on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. He is survived by wife Delores; children: Janet and Stan Brey of Big Lake, Dianne and Pat Harkin of Sleepy Eye, Roger Frericks of Wanda, Robert Frericks and Cheryl (special friend) of Windom and Sharon and Bruce Then of Maple Lake; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary Jane and LeRoy Salfer of Wabasso, Raymond Frericks of Hector and Doris and Howard Meyer of New Ulm and a sister-in-law - Mary Frericks of Wabasso. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ralph and sister-in-law Clarice.
