Robert A Ehlers

Dec 9, 1959 — Aug 4, 2026

Springfield, MN

Robert Anthony Ehlers Jr was born December 9, 1959 to Robert Ehlers Sr and Frances Supko.

Robert's father had introduced him to the hobby of trains at a young age and Robert carried that

hobby throughout his entire life building realistic train boards down to the tiniest details and

passing on that tradition to his own children as well as his grandchildren. Robert also enjoyed

collecting antiques and learning about local history and exploring historical sites. Robert enjoyed

digging up old cans and bottles, cleaning them up and displaying them on his wall of antiques.

Robert had a story behind every artifact he discovered.

Robert's profession throughout life was being a Machinist while finishing out his working years

at DTI in Racine. Robert met Renee Dahlberg in 1983 and married in 1985 where Robert was

blessed with a bonus child Amanda Dahlberg and would welcome Samantha in 1986 and

Robert Ehlers III in 1988. Robert and Renee would later divorce in 1990 where Robert would

split his time visiting his children in Minnesota while living in Racine.

Robert remained in Racine until 2018 at 59 years old when he decided it was time to retire near

his children and grandchildren, so Robert moved to a hobby farm in rural Minnesota. Robert

enjoyed living a self-sufficient, homesteading lifestyle as much as he could. He grew a vast

garden where he preserved his harvest and raised meat and egg laying chickens. Robert

enjoyed it when his children and grandchildren came to visit. He enjoyed teaching them how to

have fun with the simple things in life. Robert loved to show you what he was working on when

you'd stop in for a visit. From working on his vehicles, to his latest wood project he was building

to his garden and animals. He took pride in teaching the grandkids important life skills and

passing on important words of wisdom. He'd also enjoyed the occasional fishing trip or visit with

his old pal John whom he had reconnected with when he returned to Minnesota in 2018.

Robert is survived by his twin sisters Victoria and Margaret (Peggy), brothers Jeff and Alex. His

Children Amanda, Samantha, & Robert. His grandchildren Cali (26) Kadell (24) Haven (18),

Deegan (3), Robert the 4th (14), Avianna (12), Anthony (9), Brantley (3), Royal (11), Raelynn

(9). His nieces Katy (Booker) & Rachel (Jamal), nephews Jerad (Luisa), Calvin, Chase, & Uncle

Paul.

He is preceded in his death by his Mother Frances, Father Robert Sr, Nephew Bryan, Uncle

Butch, & Aunt Grace.

A Celebration of life event will be held at a later date.
