Roane was born on August 22, 1950, in Tracy, MN, the daughter of Meyer and Clarice (Johnson) Halvorson. She was baptized on September 17, 1950 and confirmed on June 27, 1965 at Highwater Lutheran Church in rural Lamberton. She graduated from Lamberton High School on in May of 1968. On June 10, 1967, Roane was united in marriage to Luvern Mattison at Highwater Lutheran Church. Roane is best known for her love of God and of family. Her faith was evident in her every action. She had a smile that could light up a room. She radiated warmth wherever she was, through a listening ear, a kind word, a gentle touch, a piece of advice, or a good laugh. She had a true servant's heart, planting seeds of faith wherever she went. You couldn't help but feel the joy and peace of the resurrection whenever she was around. She was wise beyond her years and patient beyond all measure. Her greatest joy was creating memories with and for her family. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, photography, scrapbooking, playing games, listening to music, attending grandchildren's events, and traveling with her husband, Butch.
