Rita Rigney

Rita Faye Rigney was born October 20, 1954 in Springfield, the daughter of Delmar and Laura (Burden) Nelson. Rita was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN. She attended Springfield Public School. Following her education, Rita lived and worked in Bloomington, MN. She entered the U.S. Army on July 1, 1979 and was honorable discharged from active duty on September 5, 1980. She then entered the Reserves and served her country until 1985. Rita has lived in Windom, Mankato, and Mapleton. Rita died on Friday, August 26, 2005 in Madisonville, KY at the age of 50 years. She is survived by her father - Delmar Nelson and his wife Sue of Springfield; a son - John Wallace and his wife Joy of Burnsville, MN and their children - Bradley and Alyssa; a sister - Linda Fischer of Springfield; a niece - Angela Nelson and her daughter - Amaya of Springfield; a nephew - Rick Fischer and his wife Melissa of Fairfax, MN; and special friend - Richard Walters of Mapleton, MN. She is preceded in death by her mother - Laura Rita Nelson; maternal grandparents - Howard and Willie Del Zobel; paternal grandparents - Tom and Mable Nelson; and uncles - John Burden, Steve Burden, and Marvin Nelson.
