Richard lived at home with his parents until he moved to Ross Park Apartments in 1990 where he lived for 29 years. He moved to Sleepy Eye Rehabilitation Center in 2019. In his younger years, Richard worked at Dittrich Specialists (MRCI).

A collector at heart, Richard appreciated his assortment of John Wayne and Eagle statues, Harley Davidson and Duck Dynasty memorabilia, and plaques and statues of Wolves. He loved all things wrestling including tee shirts, toys, magazines, books, and watching wrestling on Peacock and VCR tapes and DVDs. He was a huge fan of country music and had a large assortment of records, cassettes, and CDs. Watching Westerns, scary Halloween movies, and older TV shows including MASH and Gunsmoke occupied his time as did reading, word searches, and coloring animal pictures. Richard was a Minnesota Twins fan and loved watching the Minnesota Vikings. He especially loved playing card games and monopoly with his nephews in the past as well as playing dominoes and other games with the staff members at the care facility.

Richard is survived by his siblings, Donna (Bonnie Paulsen) Weiss of Gaylord, Marvin (Maralee) Weiss of Sleepy Eye, Stephen “Gar” Weiss of Sleepy Eye, Patty (Clete) Tauer of Sleepy Eye, Janet Nachreiner of Fairfax, MaryAnn (Jerry Baumann) Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Julie (Eugene) Hildebrandt of St. James, Audrey (Kenneth) Ruud of Springfield, MO, Jeannie Hietanen of Buffalo, Brenda (Bob) Elston of Sleepy Eye; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends as well as numerous special caregivers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Monica and Linus Weiss; grandparents, Mary and Mike Sieg and Anna and Lawrence Weiss; brother, Linus Weiss, Jr; and brothers-in-law, Rick Fischer, Timothy Nachreiner, and Bradley Hietanen.

Richard was a cantankerous individual, but he had a big heart and was loved by many!
