Richard Miller

June 6, 1952 — April 22, 2013

Richard Neil Miller was born June 6, 1952 to parents Donald Easton and Joyce Louise (Tyrrell) Miller. He lived with his family in Dunnell, MN, and Granada, MN, attended schools in Granada and Fairmont graduating from the latter. After his parents retired in 1980, they moved to Truman. In 1983 Rick was accepted into the REM home where he lived until his passing April 22, 2013. While living on the farm, he was in charge of the lawn mowing. When they moved to Truman, he announced he was also retired and wouldn't be mowing any more. He spent time enjoying his long time hobby of model railroading and had an extensive layout which was enjoyed by many family members. He had always like music and listened to records, and as the years went by, graduated up to cassettes and finally cds. After moving to Madelia, he was able to enjoy many activities. He enjoyed going to the area summer festivals; Jessie James Days, Railroad Days, Truman Days. His parents lived on the route of the Truman Days parade and many times one or two van loads of friends and staff from REM would go park in the back yard, sit in the front yard and watch the parade go by. He participate in Special Olympics for several years, was able to attend Camp Friendship and go to the cabin at Annandale to fish, he played softball, and went swimming. In later years, he attended the Railroad club in St. James, still looked forward to parades and fairs and had a regular plan to attend a movie on Sunday nights if there was one showing in town. A special time for him was Halloween. He would always dress up, and when trick-or treaters came to the door, Rick had an MandM dispenser and would give the kids a treat from that. Rick was a collector. He loved buying and recieving magnets and would always look for them when he was shopping. He had an extensive collection of videos and dvds. He liked having his room decorated for Christmas and was proud to show it off to whomever was interested. He loved fried fish and fried chicken, beef comercials, popcorn and later puffcorn. Through the years there have been many special people in his life. Our family is grateful for each and every one who has made his life full and rich in so many ways. We thank you. Visitation 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, April 26, 2013 Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel 303 E. Main St. Madelia, Minnesota, United States 56062
