Richard Peter Lohrenz

August 1, 1930 — December 30, 2019

Richard "Dick" Peter Lohrenz was born on August 1, 1930, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota to Peter and Anna (Sawatzky) Lohrenz. Richard attended and graduated school in Mt. Lake, were he enjoyed playing basketball. After graduation he joined the Army. Richard married Irma (Wohlford) on June 11, 1954. The couple raised their family in Mt Lake, where Richard worked for Minion Construction, Lohrenz Construction and Mountain Lake Township. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for more than 25 years. In his free time, Richard especially enjoyed camping with Irma, woodworking, operating heavy equipment and watching ALL sports. He was very proud of his military service during the Korean War and was a member of the local American Legion and VFW for many years. Richard "Dick" Peter Lohrenz age 89, of Mountain Lake, MN, died on December 30, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society, Sogge Memorial Home in Windom, MN. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 65 yrs, Irma; son, Kent (Janet) Lohrenz of Sheldon, IA; daughter, Lori (Jorge) Puente of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Michael Jetter of Windom, MN, Tina Brown of Waterloo, IA, Kayla Tesch of Hastings, MN and Kacey Porter of Miesville, MN; sister, Sandi (Bob) Roel; sister-in-law, Joyce Lohrenz; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; foster kids and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Todd Lohrenz and Eric Lohrenz; sister, Gladys Peterson and brother, William "Bill" Lohrenz. Military Rites Military rites provided by the Mountain Lake Area Veterans Honor Guard and US Army Dept of Defense will take place outside the church immediately following the funeral service.
