Richard Herbert Hennis age 84, of Lewisville, Minnesota died on April 28, 2020, at his home in Lewisville. Due to the current restrictions of public gatherings, the family will have a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia, Minnesota. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Richard Herbert Hennis was born to Frieda Boelter and John Hennis on October 7, 1935 in Madelia, MN. Richard worked at the Creamery in Lewisville until he started farming the family land. He met and married the love of his life, Shirley "Boots" (Rockwood) Hennis in 1962. Throughout his life, Rich enjoyed many hobbies including farming, fishing, woodworking, and watching auto-racing. A favorite activity of Richard's was to meet his peers for coffee, cards, and dice where he was given the nickname "Scrounge". Rich was a man of all trades, always exploring the newest advances in technology and playing show and tell! Richard will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Boots Hennis of Lewisville, MN; son Ben (Karen) Hoppe of Fairmont, MN, daughter Marnie Ahlbrecht of Gibbon, MN, daughters Debra Farmer and Darla Brown of Texas; sister Lorraine Kelly of Mankato, MN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 siblings, and 3 sons-in-law Todd Ahlbrecht, Tim Farmer, and Jim Brown. *Richard's family gratefully acknowledges all acts of kindness and sympathy expressed during their bereavement.
