Richard was born in Wabasso, MN on July 14, 1928 to Fred Esther (Short) Fox. He grew up in Wabasso and graduated from Wabasso High School. Richard was drafted into the Army in 1951, serving in the Korean War. He was wounded on July 12, 1951 and again on Oct. 19th. The wounds were the result of action with the enemy forces. He received two Purple Hearts. In 1954, he married Ardis Stark. She died in May of 1973. Later Richard married LaDonna Yungerberg. He worked for the Department of Transportation for 22 years before retiring. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and a charter member of Prairieland Defenders Chapter of the military order of Purple Hearts. He is survived by his wife, LaDonna Fox of Sleepy Eye, sons, Wayne (Wendy) Fox of New Ulm, Steven (Sally) Fox of Carmel, IN, daughter, Rosemarie (Myron) Mielke of Lancaster, CA, son-in-law, Clete Krzmarzick of Gibbon, step daughter, Lynn Kitzrow of Savage, step sons, Steve (Linda) Yungerberg of Atlanta and Randall (Jill) Yungerberg of Brooklyn Park, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister, Mary Johannick of Sumner, WA, brother, Jim (Arlene) Fox of Madelia, brothers-in-law, Jerry (Noreen)Allenspack of Garrison, Ronald (Lorraine) Sawvell of Clements, Alan (Darla) Stark of Sanborn, sister-in-law, Marvel Dahmes of Clements, Signa Wagner of Lakewood, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ardis, daughter, Debra Krzmarzick, brothers, Norb and Ray Fox and father and mother-in-law, Henry and Clara Dahmes, father and mother-in-law, Ewald Marie Stark and brother-in-law, John Wagner.
