Richard A. "Dick" Doll passed away December 15th, 2010 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Home at the age of 81. He was born in New York Mills, MN on September 28th, 1929. He graduated from high school in Verndale, MN He was in the U. S. Army stationed at Camp Roberts in California. On June 14th, 1952 he married Lorraine Kloety of Ada, MN in Pasa Robles, CA. He served in Korea in the signal core, returning home after fifteen months. Richard and Lorraine lived in Starbuck, MN, after he was discharged, where he worked for the railroad for 20 years. For fifteen years he served with the Starbuck volunteer fire dept. St. James became home for Richard and Lorraine as of Feb. 1971. After several jobs he was hired by the Watonwan County Sheriff's Department. He had over 20 years of service with eight years as chief deputy. His interests included gardening, square dancing, coin collecting, woodworking, hunting, fishing and sporting activities. Richard also enjoyed attending grandchildren's activities until his health declined. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of St. James, sons, Steven (Marie) and their children Joshua and Sonya and son Mitchell (Karla) and their children Adam (Sarah), Ryan and Lucas, sisters, Marlys (Vic) Carlson Mya Doll, brother, Ronald (Vivian) Doll, sister-in-law, Joan Doll and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Hansen) Doll, Aunt Bert, Uncle Arnold, brother, Robert and sisters, Mary Lois Mavis in infancy.
