Richard Dale Coulter was born January 2, 1937, in Tracy, MN, the son of James and Pearl (Anderson) Coulter. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith and graduated from Lamberton High School in 1955. Rich hauled milk for the Wabasso Creamery and entered the U.S. Army in 1958. After his honorable discharge in 1959, he worked with his brother Merle in the carpentry business for one year. On April 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Edith Finckh at the Church of the Brethren in Reading, MN. The couple moved to an acreage north of Lamberton where they have lived their entire married lives. Rich then went to work at the University of Minnesota Experiment Station as a farm equipment operator and worked there for 31 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Minnesota Trail Riders Association, and a 34-year member of Andrew Peterson American Legion Post #41. Rich was captain of the Relay-for-Life Pullin' Together for many years. He loved to trail ride and camp and was the arena boss at the Coulter rodeo campgrounds while watching his grandsons rope. Rich enjoyed horses, rodeos, having coffee with his Cenex friends, and spending time with his family. Richard Dale Coulter died Saturday, September 10, 2005, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato at the age of 68 years. Survivors include wife- Edie of Lamberton; children- Dan and wife Lori Coulter of Lamberton, Becky Coulter of Lamberton, and Alan Coulter of Mitchell, SD; grandchildren- Nick, Chris, Cody and Kaitlyn Coulter; brother- Merle and wife Janice Coulter; sister-in-law- Alta Coulter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers- Charles, Lauren, Earl and Delmar; and one niece.
