Raymond Kunz

Raymond Kunz, age 97, of Madelia, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia with Fr. Thien Nguyen, Fr. James Kunz Fr. John Kunz concelebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Madelia. Visitation will be Friday, March 23, 2012, from 4pm until 7pm at Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia. Raymond J. Kunz was born on September 4, 1914 in Madelia to Henry and Frances (Keber) Kunz. He attended Mater Dolorasa School and graduated from Madelia High School. Raymond was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Aid, Knights of Columbus and Legion of Mary. Ray was united in marriage to Agnes Staloch on April 30, 1940. The couple farmed for many years in the Madelia area. Ray also worked as a custodian at St. Mary's Church and School before his retirement. Ray enjoyed hunting, gardening and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his brother; Clement Kunz of Madelia, nieces and nephews; Fr. James Kunz of Rochester, Fr. John Kunz of Mankato, Lucille (James) Ammann of Butterfield, Lucinda (George) Brust of Minneapolis, Mark (Ann) Kunz of Madelia, Barbara Cunningham of Chicago, Roger Kunz of Chicago, Earl (Sylvia) Kunz of Madelia, Janet (Raul) Harbitz of St. James, Richard (Julie) Kunz of Eagle Lake, numerous cousins with special thanks to Nick and Mary Kunz of Madelia. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers; Robert and Fr. Francis, sisters; Sr. Agatha, Sr. Beatrice, Sr. Lucida and Agatha Diedrich.
