Raymond Dodd

Raymond 'Sonny' Stanley Dodd was born June 26, 1932, in St. James, MN the son of Raymond R. and Lucille (Patient) Dodd. He lived in Butterfield in his younger years and graduated from Butterfield High School in 1951. Sonny entered the U.S. Army in 1952 and served as a cook until his honorable discharge in 1954. He then worked at Butterfield Foods and was a volunteer fireman. He was united in marriage to Arline Johnson in 1960 and moved his family to St. James in 1964. Sonny worked for the Watonwan County Highway Department until retiring in 1993. He entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in October of 2010. Sonny participated in football in high school and enjoyed bowling, golfing, fast-pitch softball, and fishing as an adult. He also enjoyed having coffee with the guys and discussing things. Sonny always loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Raymond Dodd died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 79 years. He is survived by children- Jim (Carolyn) Johnson of Stevens Point, WI, Cindy (Al) Johnson of Mountain Lake, MN, Gene (Corrine) Johnson of Woodbury, MN, Jo (Don) Hanson of Center Point, IA, and Daren Dodd of St. James, MN; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law Lyle Grove of Buffalo, MN; uncle Cornie Block; 1 niece; and 4 nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Arline; sisters- Dorothy Wiederhoeft and June 'Sissy' Grove; brother Ralph; a brother in infancy; and brother-in-law Wilmer Wiederhoeft.
