Raymond Beerman, age 82, of St. James died on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Raymond Eugene Beerman, known by his friends as Bud, was born November 15, 1927, in Jackson County, MN, the son of Reinhard and Emma (Mischke) Beerman. Bud grew up on a farm near Brewster. He attended Brewster High School where he graduated in 1945. He served in the US Army during Korea, from Nov. 29, 1950 until Aug. 28, 1952, where he sustained injuries and was awarded the Purple Heart. Bud worked in local factories in Windom and St. James until he retired in 1990. Bud married Jeanne Hecht on July 3, 1965 at Lakefield. They made their home in rural St. James where they raised four children. Ray was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Ray enjoyed visiting relatives and friends, playing cards and having a few beers. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, watching the Twins and Vikings on t.v. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; parents; and sister Joyce. He is survived by his children, Kathryn (Ed) Hospodar of Torrance, CA, Teresa (Aaron) Reinholz of Fargo, ND, Father Andrew Beerman of Winona, Karl Beerman of St. James, grandchildren, Anna, Jacob, Evan, Luke, James, sister Mavis (Bill) Duggen of Westbrook, several nieces and nephews. A rosary will be held at 5:00pm Friday and a Prayer Services will be at 7:30pm Friday both at the funeral home.
