Phyllis I. Savage was born December 20, 1943, in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Ulysses Eldon and Beulah (Freeman) Carmichael. She was united in marriage to Joseph A. Savage on March 28, 1964, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City, IA. Phyllis and Joseph owned and operated Phil's Inn Hill's located in Hill's, IA and Joe's and Phil's in Elwood, IA. Phyllis followed Joseph to Minnesota where she worked at Crystal Cabinets in Princeton. She then worked at SciMed in Maple Grove. Phyllis and Joseph shared a home in Dairyland, WI until moving to Brook Park, MN. After Joseph's death in January of 2006, Phyllis moved to Princeton, MN where she shared a home with her daughter while pursuing her battle with cancer. Phyllis I. Savage passed away peacefully in her home on December 23, 2006, surrounded by family. Phyllis is survived by children; Ann (Kyle) Welte of Princeton, Joseph Savage of Cloquet, Michelle Savage of St. Francis, and Eddie Savage of Pillager; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and siblings; Richard (Bobbie) Carmichael, Russell (Judy) Carmichael, Stanley Carmichael, James (Linda) Carmichael, and Jerry (Judy) Carmichael. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph A. Savage; son Timothy Lou Savage; grandson Gregory Allen Savage; and brother Raymond Carmichael.
