Phyllis Gaffney

Phyllis Ann Gaffney was born March 3, 1933 to John and Irene (Wohlman) McCorquadale in Delhi Township, Redwood County. She was raised in Redwood Falls and after marriage lived in Springfield. She attended Delhi Public School through 8th grade and graduated from Redwood Falls High School. On January 9, 1952 she married George Gaffney at Middle Creek parsonage. Phyllis worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Redwood Falls from 1951-1954. She also worked as a nursing aide at St. John Lutheran Home, as a clerk at HandiMart and VS Variety, as well as a waitress at Henning caf all in Springfield. In December 2005 she became a resident of Prairie Senior Collages and has resided in Riverhaven at St. John Lutheran Home since February 2006. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Springfield and the Legion Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed bowling, traveling, fishing and the occasional visit to the casino. Phyllis died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. Phyllis is survived by her husband George; daughters - Lisa Kay and husband Gary Templin of Oakdale, MN and Barbara Ann Gaffney and special friend Dan Bradley of Woodbury; son - Mark John and wife Gloria Gaffney of Anoka; grandchildren - Caitlin Marie Wilson and Jarrid Michael Wilson; sister-in-law - Joyce and husband David Lueck of Renville County. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and brother-in-laws - Lois (Bob) Truesdell, Dorothy (Leonard) Ahrens.
