Phyllis Firchau

Phyllis Ann (Roiger) Firchau, age 85, of St. James, MN, passed away on Saturday February 13th, 2021 at Mayo Clinic in St. James, MN. Phyllis Firchau was born to Richard and Lucille (Sucker) Roiger on July 26th, 1935. Her mother Lucille passed away and her father remarried to Alice (Espelund) Roiger. Phyllis was united in marriage to Duane Firchau on December 14th, 1953 in St. James, MN. Together they were blessed with 3 daughters and a son. Phyllis worked at Tony Downs Foods Co. for 30+ years. She enjoyed going to the car races in Fairmont and Jackson with her family, dancing to Polka music with her good friend "little Donna Mae Thompson", getting her weekly grocery trip in with June Firchau, playing dice and cards with many friends, reading, crocheting, knitting, finding treasures at garage sales, and one of her greatest pastimes was working in her flower garden with her favorite flower being roses. Her greatest enjoyment came with spending special time with her family. With her daughter's Shirley and Doris she enjoyed several summer weekends of camping at Voss Park, in Butterfield, MN; when visiting her daughter Brenda she enjoyed many Pontoon rides on the lakes around Spicer; and with her son Doug she enjoyed her motorcycle rides on his Harley Davidson and camping. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Doug) Wolle of Darfur, MN, Doris Ommodt (Dean) of Sacred Heart, MN, Brenda (Brad) Olson of Spicer, MN; son, Doug (Lisa) Firchau of St. James, MN; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister; 2 brothers and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Duane, her parents, a brother and other family members. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.
