Philip Henry Jensen

Philip Henry Jensen was born April 30, 1938 to Raymond and Florence (Neilsen) Jensen at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, MN. Philip lived his childhood in rural Brookville Township attending Rural School District # 21 through 6th grade. He then attended and graduated Springfield Public High school in 1956. While in High School, Philip was part of the Navy Reserves and after high school became active in the United States Navy/Air. After discharge from the Navy, Philip married his High School Sweetheart, Jeanette Nelsen on May 17, 1959, and together had 3 children, Paul, Joy and Jeffrey. Together, Phil and Jeanette farmed in rural Brookville Township for many years until Phil went to work for Fox Brothers International in Sanborn, MN. They moved into Springfield in 1986. Philip was a member of Fresminde Lutheran Church, where he served as President, St. John's Lutheran Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church. Phil also served on the Springfield City Council for 30 years and as President of the Springfield Golf Club. Philip spent countless hours completing woodworking projects for family, friends and community. Throughout his life, Philip especially enjoyed time traveling with his wife and family. He also treasured times spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marcia Jensen, brother, Thomas Jensen and brother-in-law, Glennis "Bud" Miller. Surviving are Philip's wife of 61 years, Jeanette, son, Paul (Christine) of Reedsburg, WI, daughter Joy (Joe) DeMorett, of Madison, WI, son, Jeffrey (Roseann) of St. Anthony, MN; 8 grandchildren, Annabelle (Matthew) Whyte, Annette (Michael) Lennon, Colten DeMorett, Philip Jensen, Skyler DeMorett, Annemarie Jensen, Maddie DeMorett and Cecilia Jensen. 5 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Nelsen and Nora Whyte, Henry and Hadley Lennon, sisters, Joan Miller, Becky (Jerold) Peters, brother, Steven (Betty) Jensen, sister-in-law, Marian Jensen (Jerry Kretsch), several cousins, nephews and nieces. Philip will take his burial rest at Dannebod Cemetery in Rural Brookeville Township, Minnesota. He will be the 5th Generation Jensen to take Burial in this cemetery.
