Philip Jon Berreau was born on January 31, 1940 in Heron Lake, MN to Paul F. and Lillian Lorraine (Haberman) Berreau and raised by his grandparents, Albert J. and Anna C. (Paulson) Haberman. He attended elementary school in Heron Lake but furthered his education at a vocational school in Owatonna. In 1961 he moved to St. James where he dived into local life. As a young man, Phil was very active in the Jaycees. He was a charter member of the local Eagles club and previously served as president of the local and district chapters. Philip attended National Conventions for both the Eagles and the Jaycees. He never missed a Bingo night at the Eagles club nor the Legion. He was involved with bowling and darts. A former Grand Marshall for Railroad Days, Phil also served on the committee. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and loved visiting people. Phil was a fixture at the Home Town Cafe. He volunteered by delivering Meals-on-Wheels and was once named Hometown Hero. He worked at Tony Downs for over 40 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzle pictures which he gave away in frames he made. Philip is survived by sister, Ann (Jim) Cook, Centralia, IL, half-siblings: Paula (Pat) Conley, Corona, CA and Joel (Terri) Johnson, San Diego, CA, and many other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Janet Young, CA. He is also survived by the Sonny and Marjorie Reinke family, St. James. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
