Peter Fast

Peter Fast, the son of John J. and Agnes (Vogt) Fast was born on June 23, 1914, on the family farm near Bingham Lake, MN. He received his education in Cottonwood County District #16 Country School. Peter was baptized upon confession of his faith at the Bergfelder Church at Mountain Lake, MN. He was a charter member of the Immanuel Mennonite Church in Delft, MN, where he served faithfully in many capacities. On November 30, 1943, Peter was united in marriage to Agatha Quiring at the Immanuel Mennonite Church. Farming was the life he loved, and he continued on the family farm purchased by his father in 1889. Peter remained on this farm for 85 years where many happy hours were spent by both his children and grandchildren who were a great delight in his life. Following his wife's death on March 13, 1999, he moved to the Parkwood Apartments in Mountain Lake, and in 2003 he moved to Bemidji, MN and was a resident at Northern Pines Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck, MN. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, tinkering with machinery, playing the pump organ and singing, and listening to music - especially the Mennonite Chorus and singing in German. Peter Fast, age 92 ,of Blackduck, MN, formerly of Bingham Lake, MN died on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Northern Pines Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck, MN. Peter is survived by his children, Wendell Fast and his wife Shelly of Bemidji, MN, and Vernelle Fast of Fayette, ME; three grandchildren, Barton Fast and his wife Nickie of Bemidji, Trenton Fast and his wife Catriece of Owatonna, MN, and Lindsay Moen and her husband Gabe of Minnetonka, MN; ten great grandchildren, Shelby, Amber, Cody, Jared, Ashley, John, Peter, Jacob and Micaela Fast, and Madeline Moen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Henry, Henry, John M., Jacob and Jacob; and five sisters, Mary Wall, Helen Wieler, Agnes Goertzen, Anna Fast and Sara Hiebert.
