Pearl White

March 1, 1934 — March 26, 2019

Pearl (Jenkins) White was born March 01, 1934 to Esther (Meine) and Lester Jenkins of Springfield. Born and raised on a farm between Springfield and Comfrey, Pearl spent her childhood attending country school and participating in the numerous chores of farm life. She was confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church in her youth. In her early adult years, Pearl worked for A. J. Pietrus in Sleepy Eye and a printing firm. In 1963, Pearl was married to Donald Roy White of Morton, Minnesota in a quiet ceremony at the Redwood Falls courthouse. She settled into domestic life after marriage living in rural Springfield, until 1978 when she and Donald moved to town and resided on Jackson Avenue through 2014. Pearl was a fabulous housekeeper, organizer, yard maintainer and flower gardener. Her home and yard were always immaculate where ever she resided keeping a seasonal schedule of indoor and outdoor chores. On the weekends, Pearl enjoyed shopping and traveling to visit with relatives in the surrounding area. Pearl adopted her father, Les Jenkins', dog, "Buddy", after he moved to St. John Lutheran Home in the early 1990's. "Buddy" was a devoted companion to Pearl following her around wherever she went and anticipating going for drives in the car which he loved. Pearl will be remembered for her quiet nature, impeccable domesticity, and enduring work ethic throughout her life. Pearl died on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Home with her husband, Donald White beside her. She is survived by a sister, Sylvia Saffert of Springfield and a brother, Sam Jenkins of Blooming Prairie. Pearl's brother, Ray Jenkins, preceded her in death. Pearl was the aunt to several nieces and nephews. Thank you to the caring staff of St. John Lutheran Home who provided loving services, good humor and excellent communication for long distanced caregivers over the past several years. Your service, professionalism and person centered care made Pearl's life comfortable and familiar in her years at St. John Lutheran Home. Thank you also to the Redwood Falls Hospice support team that provided comfort for Pearl in her final days. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Home Foundation.
