Pearl Inez Johnson

May 7, 1921 — September 11, 2015

Pearl Inez Johnson was born on the family farm in Albin Township, Brown County, Minnesota, on May 7, 1921, the daughter of Rangvold and Selma (Olson) Johnson. Pearl grew up in Albin Twsp., was baptized and confirmed at Albion Lutheran Church, and attended Country School District 47. On July 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Elmer Johnson at the Albion Lutheran parsonage in Springfield. The couple lived and farmed in rural St. James. Pearl worked for a number of years as a cook at the Boston in St. James, where she became well known for her homemade pies. She was an active member of Albion Lutheran Church and participated in Ladies Aid and enjoyed making quilts for the bizarre. Pearl also enjoyed tending her garden, canning, crocheting and in the early years raising chickens and selling eggs. Pearl is survived by her nieces and nephews; Karen (Jeff) Hopman of St. James, MN Kalvin Johnson of Springfield, TN, Brenda Bertilson of Thief River Falls, MN, Dean Johnson of St. James, MN, David Johnson of Florida, Shirley Flatau of Richfield, MN, sister-in-law Lucille Johnson of St. James, MN great-nieces/nephews Michael Hopman, Karissa (Eric) Hopman, Laura Hopman, Brandon Johnson, Amber Simpson, Aimee Johnson, Benjamin Johnson and eight great-great-nieces/nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Lila Johnson, and brothers Sylvan, Norvald and Lawrence Johnson.
