Pearl Evelyn Halvorson, daughter of George and Inga (Peterson) Harlan, was born June 21, 1918, in Windom, MN. She was baptized at Windom Church and later confirmed at Old Westbrook Church. Pearl attended double school in Cottonwood County. She was united in marriage to Sigward Halvorson on December 6, 1935, in Brookings, SD and the couple lived in rural Cottonwood County before moving to Lamberton in 1942. Pearl worked at Miesen's Super Value and Our Own Hardware for over 30 years. She retired when Sigward developed cancer and took care of him until his death on October 10, 1984. Pearl was an active member of Sharon Lutheran Church, served on the Board of Deacons, and taught Sunday School for 15 years. She enjoyed baking, reading, and hard work of all types. Pearl Evelyn Halvorson died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 91 years. She is survived by daughters- Loretta and husband Donald Hullopeter of Hendricks, MN, and Odell Flesner of Corona, CA; grandchildren- Dawn Leahy, Allen (Denise) Hullopeter, Trent (Sonja) Hullopeter, Lori (David) Stafford, Brady (Wendy) Flesner, and Darla Haugen; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters- Beatrise Pederson of Springfield, and Carol Rose of Milwaukie, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sigward; 4 sisters; son-in-law Francis Flesner; and grandson-in-law Jon Haugen.
