Pearl Berkner

October 16, 1928 — February 11, 2011

Pearl Lillian (Guldager) Berkner was born October 16, 1928 in Sleepy Eye to Nels Peter Johanna (Hanson) Guldager. She graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1946. After graduating from high school, she worked at her parents grocery store in Sleepy Eye and then as a bookkeeper for the State of MN Income Tax Dept. in St. Paul. She returned to Sleepy Eye and married Myron Mike Berkner on May 17, 1950 in Sleepy Eye. She was a house/farm wife her entire married life. After their retirement from farming, they spent their summer months at the lake near Park Rapids and the winter months at their home in AZ. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary, Christian Mothers, and was a founding member of the Lawn Bowling Club in Mesa, AZ. Pearls favorite passtimes were her retirement life, her and Mike's trip to Alaska with close friends being up North fishing. She and Mike enjoyed Lawn Bowling Club which they helped found in AZ. She adored her family and grandchildren and her great granddaughter, Emma who called her Great, which she truly was. She is survived by son, Bill Berkner of Big Lake, daughter, Julie (Bil) Hughes of Sleepy Eye, grandchildren, Amber, Joey, Ryan, Jessica, Elizabeth, Alex, great granddaughter, Emma, sisters-in-law, Margaret (Red) Guldager of Sleepy Eye, Romana Rickie of Blue Earth, brothers-in-law, Randall Berkner of Sleepy Eye, Dave (Sandy) Running of White Bear Lake Curt Running special friend Peg of Casa Grande, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Myron, sister, Betty (Harry) Wilkins, brothers, Floyd (Mabel) Guldager, Harold Red Guldager, sisters brothers-in-law, Barbara (Linus) Grathwohl, Dolly Berkner, Bill Rickie, Richard (Barbara) Berkner Mary Running.
