Paul Rasmussen

Paul was born June 30, 1918 in Sleepy Eye to Rasmus Peter Lena (Hansen) Rasmussen. He graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School. He farmed the family farm in Eden Township until he and his wife, Oradell moved to Sleepy Eye. He was a Brown County District 4 Commissioner from 1979-1994. Paul served as a County Board Chairman and on various boards and committees. Paul also served as a Certified Minnesota Assessor in Prairieville and Eden Townships and Evan. He was a past member of the United Church of Christ and a current member of Faith United Methodist. Paul was a member of the Lions Club, Eagles Club, Sleepy Eye Historical Society, Sleepy Eye Police Commission, and the ASCS. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards especially cribbage, dancing, refurnishing furniture, socializing, and spending time with family and friends. Paul is survived by sons, Paul Jr. and wife, Linda Rasmussen; Mark Rasmussen; daughter, Sandra Johnson; son-in-law, William Gorman; and daughter-in-law, Jane Rasmussen. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wives, Lucille (Maurer) Rasmussen; Oradell (Backer) Rasmussen; and Jane (Jacobsen) Rasmussen; daughter, Rita (Rasmussen) Gorman; son, Fred Rasmussen; and son-in-law, Todd Johnson.
