Patricia Joann Matter, 72, of Saint James, died on May 6, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Saint James.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10:00am until 11:00am at First Lutheran Church in Saint James. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11:00am, at First Lutheran Church in Saint James. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Saint James. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Pat was born on May 15, 1953, to Alvin and Betthy (Kathman) Bakke in Marshall, Minnesota. She graduated from Springfield High School. On December 16, 1972, she married Erwin “Tony” Matter at Saint Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield. Together they raised two sons, Jeremy and Trent.
Pat worked many years at ST Industries in Saint James. In her free time, she enjoyed puzzles, word finds, playing cards, bird watching, taking care of her animals, and was a caring mother for everybody.
Pat is survived by her sons, Jeremy and Trent; mother, Betty Fischer; siblings, Doug Bakke, Steve Bakke, Kathy Francis, Todd (Liz) Bakke, Brad Bakke, Curt Bakke, Jeff (Jean) Bakke, Laurie (Rick) Williams, and Chad Bakke; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; father, Alvin Bakke; stepfather, Harold Fischer; brother, Bruce Bakke; sister, Brenda (Steve) Quast; and sisters-in-law, Dorene Bakke and Jean Bakke.
