Oscar Martin Olson Jr.

Oscar Martin Olson Jr. was born on December 4, 1929 in Mankato, Minnesota to Oscar A. Olson Sr. and Mathilda J. (Mickelson) Olson. Oscar grew up in Butternut Valley Township and attended a small country school in Butternut Valley until his sophomore year when he transitioned to Madelia schools. He married Dorothy Mae Knowles on February 26, 1950 in Estherville, IA. Oscar farmed in Butternut Valley his entire life and also custom farmed with his brother Lawrence and their sons, Jim and Ron. After retiring from farming he worked part time for the House of Print in Madelia. In his free time, Oscar enjoyed camping with Dorothy in Garrison in the summer and Harlegen, Texas in the winter. His favorite pastime was cheering on the Minnesota Twins. He was a lifelong member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Butternut Valley Township. Oscar will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Oscar Martin Olson Jr. age 90, of Madelia, MN died on March 10, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN. Oscar is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Olson; children, Linda (Joel) Nundahl, James (Linda) Olson, Carolyn (Doug) Schuette, Janette (Tom) Hughes, Pauline (Jerome) Braulick; grandchildren, Joe, Joshua, Jesse and Jon Nundahl, Martin and Christopher Olson, Justin, Amber and Grant (Elisabeth) Hughes, Myrranda (Zane) Frazier, Mackenzie Braulick, Hollie Schuette, Ryan (Janet) Schuette and Lucas (Beth) Schuette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mathilda Olson; brothers, Orlando, John, Myron, Lawrence Olson and granddaughter, Kristy Lee Nundahl.
